• BGK Foundation is an Indonesian foundation working to make corporate sustainability performance visible and comparable. We assess how fully listed and non-listed companies disclose their environmental, social and governance information, publish the results openly, and recognise the organisations leading the way.

Our work runs on published evidence: we read what companies themselves put into the public record, and score it against the same framework for everyone.

• Four things, and they feed each other:

• We assess and publish ESG Disclosure Scores — 201 companies, reviewed every year from 2018 to 2024.
• We maintain the ESG Index, which tracks how the companies disclosing best have performed on the market.
• We recognise leadership through the Indonesia ESG Leadership Awards and publish an Annual Report of what the year showed.
• We work directly with organisations on ESG disclosure, CSR & TJSL programmes and training.
• Our disclosure assessment is aligned to the GRI Standards, and our wider work refers to the IFRS and ISO frameworks. Our assessment is assured by TÜV Rheinland.

Alignment means the framework shapes what we look for. It does not mean a company scoring well here has been certified against any of those standards — that is a separate process, carried out by the company and its own assurer.

• Our office is at Ruko The Icon Business Park Blok M No.12, BSD City, Tangerang, Banten. We are open Monday to Friday, 09:00 – 17:00 WIB.

Email [email protected], or use the contact page. We reply to every message within 1–2 business days.

• You can search for available company ESG Disclosure Scores through the ESG Score section on the BGK Foundation website. Enter the company name to view the available ESG disclosure information and scores.

• Yes. A company’s disclosure score, its history year by year, its Environmental, Social and Governance breakdown and the sustainability report each review was scored from are all public on this site — no account needed.

What sits behind a log in is the detail underneath: how a company scored on each individual factor, the evidence we found and the page of the report it came from.

• BGK Foundation provides ESG Disclosure Scores for companies that have been assessed within our coverage. Availability may vary depending on the company, reporting year, sector, and the availability of the company’s published sustainability information.

• Historical ESG Disclosure Scores may be available for selected companies and reporting periods. If the data you require is not currently displayed on the website, you may contact BGK Foundation to enquire about its availability.

• BGK Foundation assesses the quality and extent of a company’s publicly available ESG disclosures across 33 ESG indicators, covering Environmental, Social, and Governance factors.

For more detailed information about our scoring methodology, please visit the ESG Hub section on the BGK Foundation website and select “How We Score” from the menu or dropdown. For a more comprehensive overview of ESG Disclosure Scores and assessment results, please refer to the relevant BGK Foundation Annual Report. If you require detailed ESG Disclosure Score information for a specific company, please contact the BGK Foundation team directly.

• Environmental, Social and Governance are each scored out of 100 against their own list of factors — emissions, energy and water on one side; pay, safety, labour and human rights on another; board, ethics, privacy and reporting practice on the third.

The headline disclosure score weighs all three together. It usually sits close to the middle of them, but it is not their average — please do not read it as one.

• BGK Foundation’s assessment relies on information officially published by companies. Companies release their annual and sustainability reports at different times. BGK Foundation must therefore wait until the relevant reporting documents become available before the assessment, verification, and scoring process can be completed.

For this reason, ESG Disclosure Scores for the most recent reporting year may become available later than the end of the reporting period itself.

• Yes. If you require ESG Disclosure Scores for particular companies or sectors for research purposes, you may contact BGK Foundation with:

• the company names
• the required reporting years
• the purpose of the request
• your institution or organisation, where applicable

Data availability will depend on BGK Foundation’s existing coverage and data-access policies.

• ESG rating providers may use different methodologies, indicators, weighting systems, data sources, and assessment objectives. BGK Foundation’s ESG Disclosure Score specifically focuses on the transparency and quality of publicly disclosed ESG information based on its assessment framework. It should therefore not be assumed to be directly equivalent to ESG ratings produced using different methodologies.

• No, and this is the most important thing to understand about the score. It measures disclosure — how fully and how clearly a company reports what it does — not the environmental or social outcome of what it does.

A company that reports its emissions honestly and in full will score well even if those emissions are high. That is the point: you cannot judge performance, compare peers or hold anyone to account until what they do is on the public record.

• Yes. Students, academics, and researchers may use publicly available BGK Foundation ESG data for academic purposes, provided that BGK Foundation is properly cited as the source. For additional datasets or information that is not publicly available, please contact our team with details of your research requirements.

• Researchers and students may contact BGK Foundation to request further information regarding the ESG Disclosure Score methodology. General information regarding the assessment framework may be provided for academic purposes. The availability of detailed scoring criteria, calculations, or supporting documentation is subject to BGK Foundation’s data and methodology policies.

• A disclosure score describes one company. The ESG Index asks a different question: does disclosure show up in the market? It follows a basket of the strongest disclosers against the IHSG, rebased so both start at 100.

From January 2019 to December 2024 the ESG Leader basket returned +39.7% against the IHSG’s +3.8%. It is an observation, not a recommendation, and past movement is not a forecast — please read it alongside the methodology rather than on its own.

• An Annual Report can only be finalised once the complete information for the relevant reporting period has been collected, reviewed, and verified. Some information may only become available after the end of the reporting year. BGK Foundation therefore prioritises accuracy and completeness before publishing its Annual Report.

• From the Annual Report page in the ESG Hub, in English and in Bahasa Indonesia. Earlier editions are there too, so you can follow how the picture has changed year by year.

• Information regarding each year’s Indonesia ESG Leadership Awards, including eligibility, assessment procedures, categories, and important dates, will be announced through BGK Foundation’s official communication channels. Interested organisations may contact BGK Foundation for the latest information regarding the awards programme.

• The next edition is on 26 November 2026 in Jakarta. At the 2025 awards, 64 organisations were recognised. Dates and details for each year are published on the Events page as they are confirmed.

• Three, alongside the public data:

• ESG Disclosure — assessing your reporting against the same 33-factor, GRI-aligned framework we use for the public database, and showing you where the gaps are.
• CSR & TJSL — designing and running community programmes that meet Indonesia’s social and environmental responsibility obligations.
• Training — practical sessions on sustainability reporting for teams that have to produce it.

Each has its own page under Services, with what it covers and how to start a conversation.

• The public database covers the companies within our current coverage, and a company does not apply to be in it — we review what is already published.

If you want your own reporting assessed and want to know where it falls short, that is the ESG Disclosure service. Tell us your organisation and the reporting year you have in mind and we will come back to you.

• TJSL — Tanggung Jawab Sosial dan Lingkungan — is the social and environmental responsibility that Indonesian companies carry towards the communities and environments they operate in.

We design and run programmes across six topic areas with companies, and document them so the work stands up in your own reporting afterwards. Our CSR & TJSL page has the programmes and the photographs.

• Yes. We run practical sessions for the people who actually have to assemble a report — what each disclosure asks for, where the evidence comes from, and what a reviewer looks for.

One example: Sustainability Reporting Training for SMEs, held on 5 June 2024 at SMESCO. Write to us with your team size and what you are reporting on.

• It is a free tool on this site that works out your greenhouse gas emissions across Scope 1, Scope 2 and Scope 3 — fuels and refrigerants you burn or leak, the electricity you buy from any of 93 Indonesian grid regions, and purchased goods.

It was built for micro, small and medium enterprises who need a credible number without a consultant, and it follows the GRI and SECO approaches. Nothing you enter leaves your browser.
