Program Background
The Community Empowerment Initiative (CEI) is BGK Foundation's grassroots sustainability program, working directly with underrepresented communities across Indonesia to build environmental awareness and develop sustainable economic opportunities.
Our Approach
We believe that the transition to a sustainable economy must be inclusive. CEI focuses on communities most vulnerable to the impacts of climate change — coastal fishing villages, smallholder farming communities, and peri-urban settlements facing rapid environmental degradation.
Reach & Impact
CEI has reached 47 communities across West Java, East Java, and South Sulawesi, with over 8,000 direct beneficiaries since the program's inception in 2021. Partner NGOs and local government units co-implement the program to ensure long-term sustainability.
